Thursday, I damn near had a heart attack.
How could that be, you might ask? But Shawn, you are only 39 years old. It is rare to have a heart attack so young? Then I say to you, “I shipped something.” And you ask, “What?” And I say I shipped the signature pages of the Signed & Numbered edition of Unfettered!
You can’t imaging my dread. Seriously. Those pages are worth a lot to us and here I had to ship them overnight to the printer. Out of my sight. In the hands of strangers. It sounds easy but it wasn’t. What would happen if the box with the pages went missing? Would you all come after me? After all of the time it has taken to get this book finished? I dare not think it.
I boxed them in a way that they would not be damaged. And then I had the UPS store put a box and packing material around my box. $200 later in overnight shipping, and I let the pages go, praying to all deities and fairies and aliens that the box would arrive safe and sound.
Yesterday, in the early afternoon Michigan time, the box arrived and was signed for! I then uploaded the final files to the printer, the entire book now out of my hands.
I stopped sweating at that point. Ha!
The book has now been put into the printing queue. I don’t know when it will begin its printing process but it usually takes six weeks. My representative contact at the printer did write me an email confirming the arrival of the signature pages and the files. But that wasn’t all. He took a look at the files and said, “This book is going to be absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to see it.”
He’s not the only one!
Thank you everyone for your patience. This has been a labor of love. I can’t wait to receive the books in and ship them out. I demand pictures from all of you either holding your book or the book on your shelves!
And I hope you will continue to follow me in the future!
