  1. Hi Shawn. Just ordered the Lettered version. The order status says “on hold” which is different from other orders I’ve placed. Are the orders confirmed if paid for or do you need to review them before confirming them?

    1. I had the identical concern.

    2. I also have the same status. I received an email from PayPal that they need to review the order for some unspecified reason and it will complete within 72 hours.

    3. The only way to confirm if a purchase has happened or not is if money has moved from your PayPal account to the Grim Oak Press PayPal account.

      1. Hmm. Now I go into paypal it says my transaction is pending while paypal review it. I hope their check hasn’t lost me my copy.

          1. I think the flood of $300USD orders has set off alarms at paypal. They better not lose us this book!!!

  2. I have the same info. even on the limited
    I hope I don’t loose the lettered

  3. Hi Shawn, just a reiteration of the concerns of the above posters really. I had to set up a new pp account to buy the book, and my (Spanish) account is telling me it needs 72 hours to confirm payment for security reasons, my problem not yours obviously. However, having placed the order and had a mail reply from Grim Oak confirming it, does my order, or anyone else’s with the same problem, get that grace period? I’m biting my nails to the quick and reaching for the valium here! Would be very grateful for some sort of yea or nay. Thanks, Amanda.

    1. That is up to PayPal. I have no control over such things, unfortunately. I will know more after 72 hours, obviously, because I’ll be able to match orders on Grim Oak with the orders coming into PayPal. And if more than 52 are sold, then those people who finalized their orders last will have to be reimbursed, I’m afraid.

      1. Many thanks for that information Shawn. I will be keeping my fingers crossed!

  4. First time ordering. Also had the same issue. Here’s hoping I still get the book. First foray into collecting limited runs. Already building a beloved collection of speculative fiction but haven’t ponied up the big bucks before. 🙂

  5. I got blocked from even getting to paypal, so count yourselves very lucky – I had my copy by 9:02 and paypal just spun and spun and spun… then kicked me back to the main Grim Oak site and now I get a ‘sold out’ message… very disappointing… this seems to have gone FUBAR, at least for me.

    1. …and in no way saying this is Shawn’s fault… it is what it is.

  6. I think this is what happened to all of us with ‘pended’ status: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/brc/funds-availability

It goes on to say that significant changes in volume or dollar amount per transaction can trigger the funds being delayed. Anyone have a non-pending status in PayPal after email confirmation of the order?

  7. Just to add to this, my payment for the limited is also showing as ‘pending’. Its not a new account (I have had it for years!) and I have used it to buy from Grim Oak before. I can only assume the very high spike of activity has set off some sort of warning for paypal. Hopefully it will all work out over the next couple of days.

  8. All of mine always show pending. Even my unbound order from February I think that normal.
