Sure, I am the webmaster for Brooks and have known him for almost twenty years. But it goes beyond that. Sword was the book that put me on this path of science fiction and fantasy reading. And Sword was given to me by my mother.
When she passed away in April 2016, I was devastated. She was my fellow reader in fantasy, someone I bounced ideas off of when it came to Grim Oak Press and my own writing. I was by her side almost every single day for two months. I was there as her medical advocate. I was there to lighten the darkness that had entered her life. I was there to spend whatever precious moments we had left. And when she died, I returned to her home to console my father, who is still broken.
That time took a lot of energy away from Grim Oak Press, pushing back all of the projects that I had lined up. I have gotten The Broken Empire and Unfettered II wrapped up and shipped out. And the next one to be done is The Sword of Shannara.
Since you all have been waiting so patiently for this book — a book that was supposed to publish in December — I requested Marc Simonetti to produce an additional piece of art, my way of saying thank you for your patience. That art is below — Keltset battling a Skull Bearer even while Shea brings the power of the Elfstones to bear.
- Limited to 1000 numbered copies
- Leather-bound hardcover book with no slipcase
- Signed by Terry Brooks and artist Marc Simonetti
- Nine black and white interior plates by Marc Simonetti including full-color dust jacket
- Sewn black ribbon
- Highest quality materials used
- Publishing: April 2017
Right now, Marc Simonetti is signing the 1052 signature pages for The Sword of Shannara Limited and Lettered Editions. When done, he will ship them from France to Brooks in Oregon, where he is ready to sign. By the time that is done, the book will be ready for printing. Thomson-Shore will put the book into their queue and within two months I will receive finished copies.
If I were to guess, we are looking at an April ship date. Later than I had hoped. But I am doing everything in my power to make it worth it.
Because this book means so much to me. And meant so much to my mother.
Back to work!
