The Elfstones of Shannara Limited Edition is one step closer to going to the printer.
Artist Marc Simonetti has finished the full-color cover artwork for the second book in the original Shannara trilogy, producing a dynamic scene that Terry Brooks thinks his fans will love. It is a scene near the end of the book when Stee Jans and his Free Corps are about to be pushed back through the seventh and final gate of the zig-zagging Elfitch, losing ground as the demons threaten to destroy the Elves and all they stand for. Brooks wanted a scene that had not been done in Shannara art before, and we settled on Stee Jans, a fan-favorite character.
For those of you interested in Simonetti’s process and to see the full piece of artwork, the Penguin Random House SF&F website Unbound Worlds is featuring the steps the artist took to bring the scene to life. Click HERE to view it!
The Sword of Shannara Limited Edition is almost sold out. Only several dozen copies left. The book should print this week by Thomson-Shore and ship to me next week. The Elfstones of Shannara will be up as soon as we finalizes a few more interior pieces of art.
