Hi Grim Oak Community,
A special announcement today!
Many years ago, Grim Oak produced an omnibus of The Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence. The trilogy featured black and white art by artist Jason Chan. It was cloth-bound with ribbon. And it was a giant hulk of a book -- one Jorg could use to kill if he was in the mood to do so. The omnibus would eventually sell out, leaving new collectors discovering Grim Oak the inability to own it.
I said back then that one day Grim Oak would likely produce beautiful editions of the individual books that comprise The Broken Empire, breaking the trilogy up and starting with Prince of Thorns.
Well, that day is today. Mark reached out to me several weeks ago about that very thing. I thought it a great idea but only if fan-favorite artist Jason Chan would join us again. He did and now Grim Oak is pleased to announce the 10th Anniversary Edition of Prince of Thorns!
These editions will be beautiful, that I promise. Jason has created a brand new wrap around piece of art for the cover, matching up with his original work on the trilogy. Young Jorg may be on his knees here, but the next two covers will show him rising to meet the challenges of a dark and vengeful life. The book will feature five full-color interiors by Jason, beautiful endpapers, a black sewn-in satin ribbon, black-foiled and embossed title on the limited edition's dust jacket, double-signed by Mark Lawrence and Jason Chan, and all bound within silver-foiled bonded leather.
Due to the materials used and full-color interiors produced, the cost will match up with what we are doing on Storm Front by Jim Butcher. There will be 52 Lettered Edition copies and at least 500 Limited Edition copies produced. And before an owner of a Red Queen's War Lettered Edition asks, your Lettered Edition gives you the right to our forthcoming Book of the Ancestor omnibus, not this individual book. In this way we are being fair to everyone.
The pre-order for the $150 Limited Edition and $500 Lettered Edition will begin next week on Tuesday, May 4th, at 11AM PT.
Good luck! And May the Fourth be with you!
