How We Are Bringing Dragon Prince To Life
Share
Hi Fantasy Reader:
Once upon a time, I read The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks. I became a lifelong fantasy reader after that. I then purchased every Del Rey Books title. But I soon ran out of books from them and had to look elsewhere. That quest took me next to DAW Books where I found what I was looking for. Tad Williams. C. S. Friedman. Mercedes Lackey. All excellent.

And then I picked up Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn, the book that made me a DAW fan forever. The story of Prince Rohan and his Sunrunner witch Sioned is epic, and Rawn's worldbuilding and magic system are amazing. Add dragons. Political intrigue. Real villains. And conflict between a man who wants to challenge the status quo of his kingdom and a woman who can't help but aid him. Just fantastic storytelling. I've been wanting to publish these books as special editions at Grim Oak for years. They belong right next to Tad's Osten Ard books.
Sadly, author Melanie Rawn no longer writes. Her editor and agent haven't spoken to her in years and not for lack of trying. But not having her sign signature pages didn't dissuade my dream of acquiring subsidiary rights from DAW and having special editions of Dragon Prince on my shelf.
Artist Julia Maddalina, who is hot off her interiors for the forthcoming Unbroken anthology, has finished the wrap-around cover and started work on the full-color signature page and ten —yes, TEN! — full-page black and white interiors.
And since Tad Williams knows Dragon Prince well, he has agreed to write a foreword to the book and sign signature pages.
AND THIS IS OPEN TO EVERYONE! ANYONE CAN ORDER!
Let's go Sunrunning together!
