We are excited to reveal our plans for Unavowed, the new Grim Oak Press anthology featuring stories written by indie and self-publishing authors.
This will be the first anthology we crowdfund using Kickstarter, which offers us a lot of tools to upgrade the editions of the book while creating stretch goals that will pay the authors and artist more money! In this way, everyone wins! But the onus for how well this does and how upgraded the editions become will be determined by you—what tier you pledge to, what add-ons you choose, and especially how you share the Kickstarter with fellow fantasy readers online and off.
The Kickstarter will launch on Wednesday, October 2nd at 2PM ET / 11AM PT. That's only two days away. Be sure to click HERE to add your email to the pre-launch page so you will be notified the moment it goes live.
Why is that important? We have Early Bird Specials! The Hardcover and the Signed & Numbered editions are discounted for the first 48 hours. That's one reason.
The other reason: Anyone who pledges to a physical item tier on the Kickstarter in the first 48 hours will receive a FREE pin based on the pendant in Michael J. Sullivan's story, "The Storm."
Now to the fun. What editions will we have as pledge tiers? Here we go:
- $10: The Ebook
- $45: The Hardcover ($40 during Early Bird)
- $200: The S&N Edition ($180 during Early Bird)
- $1000: The Rare Edition
- $1300 The Collection (all editions in one bundle plus other goodies)

The three physical copies begin with 60# acid-free paper as that is important to us at Grim Oak Press, but there are Stretch Goals to upgrade all of the editions. From foiling to embossing to improved endpapers to smyth-sewing to ribbons and more. BUT OUR FAVORITE THING: Paying the contributors more MONEY multiple times!

How can you help get the Kickstarter to that point? Be sure to share the Kickstarter with your SF&F friends online and off. Are you on Reddit? Share at r/Fantasy and r/Books. Are you on Facebook and a part of any SF&F groups? Share on those groups. These writers have a lot of readers but the hard part of any Kickstarter is getting the news to those who care. Thank you in advance for helping with that!
We will also have some add-ons. A coin. A metal bookmark. The pin. A slipcase for the trade hardcover (I think we'll hit the slipcase Stretch Goal for the S&N edition). Etc. Be sure to check those add-ons out too. They help with the overall crowdfund!
