Hello Bibliophiles,
Hope this update finds you well and reading something great!
Remember back in April when I said that our limited and lettered editions of The Wishsong of Shannara were on their way to the warehouse and we'd start shipping them once arrived? Then several weeks later, I updated that the printer did not ship them out on time? That we were effectively lied to?
Well, it has been four months since all of this should have been wrapped up. And it still isn't done. We had hope that it would come to an end this week when the 52 lettered editions and the remaining 100 limited editions we are owed would return to us without damage. That did not happen. The books arrived to the warehouse on Wednesday and they were a wreck. Again. Damaged due to poor shipping practices. And here I am, again, writing an update while I seethe.
Jeff took 50 photos and sent them to our rep at the printer, all showing the damage that all copies incurred. Here is just one photo that Jeff sent me this morning:
There is no reasonable explanation for this. At all. Jeff and I have received so many excuses from the printer we used that I can't even type them all out. It would take all day. Needless to say, Jeff nearly had a coronary when the books arrived this week in the manner they did. And if I had hair, I'd be pulling it out in record clumps.
We were going to announce First King of Shannara today. That was our plan. For both lettered and limited editions. But Jeff and I don't feel comfortable announcing the next Shannara limited edition until the issues with The Wishsong of Shannara are resolved to our satisfaction. And thereby, your satisfaction.
Those of you waiting on these lettered editions... we are sorry. Even though none of this is Grim Oak's fault, we are ultimately where the buck stops. Jeff is already looking at how to get this fixed and fast. Fingers crossed we can do that.
If you have any questions, do let us know!
Best Monday Wishes,
